When you are the reason someone else does an action of good, you are connected to that action in a form of leadership.

“A leader is someone who demonstrates what’s possible.” – Mark Yarnell

Sometimes leaders have to get out of their comfort zones. Leadership is something that pushes people to do better and be better than they thought possible. Leaders are the people who take that first step off of the ledge and learn to fly.

“Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” – Steve Jobs

One of the world’s most favorited influences, Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc. said this quote to showcase just how leaders aren’t a solo concept. To be a great leader, you need a team. Without any followers, you wouldn’t be a leader. Leadership requires more than just one person. If you’re a good leader, you’re leading an entire team.

“He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander” – Aristotle

One of the most important things to remember in any leadership position is that you were once a follower. If you’re a leader, remember that you were once in the same position as all of your followers. You can relate to their position and experiences. You can’t become a leader without being a follower first.

How to Prepare for Your Next Speech

Graham Zahoruiko Motivational Speeches

Getting a crowd of people to listen to what you’re saying is difficult enough, but inspiring a group of people into action is even harder, especially as an entrepreneur. Motivational speaking can be a challenge and with the right tools and mindset, you will succeed in creating interest in your speech and inciting the action you want to leave the listeners with. Whether this is your first speech in front of a large group or you are a seasoned speaker, these tips will help you prepare to deliver an effective speech.

Start Early

Unless you’re exceptional at coming up with material or you’ve already delivered this kind of speech before, chances are you’ll need to set aside a good bit of time. Start with a brainstorming session and have goals in mind of what you’d like to achieve. Try to keep a small notebook with you at all times, just in case an idea pops into your head that you can use for the speech.

Make Sure You’re Committed to the Subject

One thing that is going to set you back is choosing a subject and working on the speech, only to change it because you’ve lost interest in the subject matter or don’t have enough material to work with. This is another reason why having a productive brainstorming session is crucial; it will eliminate the need for you to redo the speech after working on it for a time.

Listen to Other Motivational Speakers

Tune into a motivational TED Talk or try to attend an event that features a motivational speaker. This is not to get ideas from that you can use as much as it is to pick up on nonverbal cues and see how the crowd reacts to what the person is saying. Hone in on how they stand, what gestures they use, how they deliver anecdotes, and how they build their speech from beginning to end. Much like comedic stand-up, motivational speeches should be relatable and get the audience thinking.

Make it Memorable

After you leave the stage, the people in the audience should still be thinking about the words that you said. Keep them engaged by making the speech memorable. One way to do this is by injecting comedic elements to the speech. These anecdotes and observations should flow naturally and be related to the subject matter, and they are typically effective in both engaging the audience and allowing the speech to stay on their minds long after the speech.

What to Do When You Feel Like You’re Burning Out

Graham-Zahoruiko-Work

Burnout is a prevalent issue that plagues professionals in all industries, particularly entrepreneurs. When you’re in charge of a large group of people or running your own business, there are always hundreds of tasks you need to finish each day. Even though you have so much to do, it likely never seems as though you have enough time. You probably feel exhausted and like you just want to quit.

Use “no”

When you start feeling like you’re experiencing burnout, force yourself to begin saying “no.” If you’re on the verge of burnout with your job, do not take on more projects or responsibilities than you absolutely have to do. Most people will be understanding if you say you already have too much going on. Also, take time to scale back what you’re already working on and see if there’s any areas you can trim.

Schedule time for you

One of the most important items on this list, make sure you take time to look after yourself. Instead of spending every moment of the day focused on work or someone else, take a little time every day to do something you enjoy or just relax. Sit in silence, read a book, or watch an episode of your favorite television show. Scheduling time to take care of yourself makes you feel more calm.

More around

Whether moving around involves a short walk and frequent breaks or a regular workout routine, make sure you’re getting some form of exercise each day. You’ll feel better and your outlook on life will be more positive. You’ll also be healthier, which impacts the rest of your life in positive ways.

Have a no-screen time

No matter how busy you are and how important checking your emails is, you can set a time every night where you won’t have any screen time. Whether it’s just an hour or you refuse to look at your computer and phone at all after a certain time, it’s good to take time off from digital devices. Ideally, you would avoid using a computer or phone at least an hour before you plan on going to bed.

Work in steps

You’ll find it’s more manageable to accomplish your bigger projects if you break them into much smaller intervals. Work toward a goal one step at a time and you’ll feel less like you’re burning out. You’ll also have a greater sense of accomplishment as you complete each step.

Create a support system
The best way to help yourself with burnout is by creating a strong support system. If you’re married, have a roommate, or live with family, you can rely on them to help out with work around the house. You can also connect with friends and family through social events and take some time to get rid of stress. Find one person in your life that you can talk to about your concerns and you’ll feel much better after talking through it.
